Naser Ayat

Naser Ayat was a Ph.D. student at FCN group. He received his B.Sc. in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) and his M.Sc. in software engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology (Tehran, Iran). His current research interests include Data Integeration and Probablistic DataBases.

Ekaterina Ermilova

Ekaterina Ermilova

Ekaterina received her Master degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Pereslavl University, Russia in June 2004. From 2001 till 2004 she also worked as a software engineer at the Program Systems Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From December 2004 to December 2010 she worked as a PhD student at the FCN group. Her research focused on management of organizations’ competencies and development of ontologies for long-term strategic collaborative networks. Her PhD thesis is titled “Management of information in Virtual organizations Breeding Environments”.

Jafar Tanha

Jafar Tanha

He obtained his Bachelor degree in Computer science in December 1999 and his Master degree in Computer Science and applied Mathematics in June 2002 from the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics of the University of Amir Kabir (Polytechnic Tehran). Since March 2009, he is a PhD student at the Computer Science Department at the University of Amsterdam. His current research areas include the analysis and design of a learning module for Collaborative Networks using Ontology manipulation for this purpose.

Gerben de Vries

Gerben was a PhD-Student working on the Poseidon project. his research in this project was focused on applying machine learning techniques to moving object data in the maritime domain. For this he used alignment techniques and kernel methods.

Ozgul Unal-Karakas

Ozgul Unal Karakas

Ozgul Unal Karakas received her Bachelors degree from the department of Computer Engineering at Middle East Technical University and a Masters degree from the department of Information Systems at the same university. She worked as a Software Development Engineer at Software Development Division of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey from 1999 until 2002. In September 2002, she started her PhD studies at the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Science of University of Amsterdam. She received her PhD degree in 2010 on the subject of semi-automated matching and integration of database schemas. At the same time, she continued working for the Central Bank in Turkey. Since 2012, she works as a part-time post-doc researcher in the area of customized and service-enhanced product specification in networks of SMEs.

Simon Samwel Msanjila

Simon Samwel Msanjila

Msanjila received his Bachelor of Science degree, Computer Science from the department of Computer Science of University of Dar es Salaam on November 2001 and a Masters of Science degree in Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management specializing Systems Engineering from the department of Systems Engineering of the Delft University of Technology on July 2004, and in September 2009 he finished his Ph.D. at the Informatics Institute, Faculty of Science, in the area of management of inter-organizational trust in networked collaborations and left the group in 2009. Now he is Associate Professor of Computer Science and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Mzumbe University in in Morogoro, Tanzania.

Victor Guevara Masis

He obtained the Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science from the School of Computer Science & Informatics (ECCI) of the University of Costa Rica (UCR) and he completed his PhD study in October 2007. From 1998 until 2001 he worked as information system specialist at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). Since March 2001 he was at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Pieter Adriaans (promoter) and Dr. Hamideh Afsarmanesh (supervisor). The main subject of his Ph.D. research was the analysis, design and implementation of the Federated Information Management Systems. He left the group in 2007.

Ersin Cem Kaletas

Ersin Cem Kaletas

He received his B.Sc. from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 1997. He joined the University of Amsterdam since 1998, and in 2004 he finished his Ph.D. at the Informatics Institute, Faculty of Science, in the area of Scientific Information Management in Collaborative Experimentation Environments. His research was on the management of scientific information within the context of collaborative experimentation environments, specifically in the bio-informatics domain. He has been involved in several European and Dutch national research projects. He left the group after he finished his PhD studies in 2004. Now he is Senior Business Analyst at Infor B.V., Barneveld, and working on an integration solution for Infor’s supply chain planning suite of applications.

Ammar Benabdelkader

Ammar Benabdelkader

Ammar Benabdelkader received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering emphasizing on the Integration of heterogeneous geographical distributed databases, from the Institute of Applied Science of Lyon, France. He joined the University of Amsterdam since 1997, and in November 2002 he finished his Ph.D. at the Informatics Institute, Faculty of Science, in the area of Integration/Interoperation of Autonomous Data Sources in Heterogeneous Distributed Applications. His research interests at the time he was here, focused on the design and prototypical development of the information management architecture, the modeling constructs, and the mechanisms to support the tasks of supervision and distributed control in a multi-agent environment. He stayed in the group as a Post-Doc from 2002 till 2004 when he left the group. Now, he is working as a Data Architect and a project leader for the Neuroscience gateway project at AMC Medical Research (AMR) in Amsterdam.

César Garita Rodriguez

César Garita Rodriguez

César Garita obtained a Bachelors degree in Software Engineering and a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Costa Rican Institute of Technology (ITCR). He received His Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in November 2001. From 1994 until 1996 he worked as system developer at the ITCR Computing Centre, and course instructor at the ITCR Computer Science Department. Since October 1996 until December 2002, he worked for the group as a PhD student first and later on as a postdoctoral researcher on several projects related to Virtual Organizations and bio-informatics.He left the group and returned to Costa Rica in December 2002. Now, he is Professor at the School of Computer Science of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (ITCR).

Luis Osorio

Luis Osorio

He obtained his Engineering degree, Electrotecnic and Telecommunications Engineering from Instituto Superior Engenharia de Lisiboa (ISEL) in 1979 and a Master’s in Informatic Engineering from the Faculty of sciences at the new University of Lisbon (FCT/UNL) in 1981. Since March 2009, he was a PhD student at the Computer Science Department of the Faculty of Science at the University of Amsterdam. His current research areas include the process modeling and support infrastructure for intelligent collaborative transportation systems.

Sijali Petro Korojelo

Sijali Petro Korojelo

Sijali received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Science at the University of Dar es Salaam. 2011, Sijali joined the FCN group and did research on Service Orientation and Collaborative Networks. In 2012, he returned to Tanzania. Now, he is now working in Iringa, Tanzania, as System Administrator at Ruaha University College, and as assistant lecturer at Tumaini University.

Elinor Bakker

Elinor Bakker

Elinor Bakker received her Masters degree in Social Science Informatics at the University of Amsterdam in June 2006. Directly thereafter she joined the European Natur-Net Redime project on sustainable development as a researcher, focusing on support of a collaborative qualitative simulation tool, Garp3. At January 2007 she joined the FCN group as a scientific programmer to support the researchers and develop prototype software for the ECOLEAD project. She left the group in October 2007.
