Federated Collaborative Networks

Project description

This project aims at establishing a flexible data integration framework supporting the increased complexity of biological experimentation. To achieve this objective, it is clearly necessary to manage potentially large data sets coming from multiple physically distributed and heterogeneous biology data sources.

The main focus of UvA in Flexwork is on the definition of common data models and database architecture that can support the proper information management requirements for the target Flexwork bio-molecular experimentation environment. Furthermore, the Virtual Laboratory Amsterdam (VLAM-G) infrastructure will be applied in Flexwork in order to benefit from its Grid-based high-performance computing facilities, distributed data integration approach, and scientific collaboration support.
